Radio station Air3 1350Country: UK City: Stirling, Scotland Air3 1350 is the campus radio station for the University of Stirling. For over thirty years students have locked themselves away in the depths of Airthrey castle learning the necessary skills needed to keep an audience of tens captivated. The new millennium brought with it a new transmitter and Air3’s possible audience leapt to almost 10,000 students. Air3 offers the campus a variety of programming, a cavalcade of music. Air3 is almost as old as the university itself; originally known as URA: University Radio Airthrey, it was started in 1969 and for the next 30 years would broadcast on an induction loop system to the halls of residence. In the summer of 2000, this old induction loop system was replaced with a brand new MediumWave transmitter which allows the station to broadcast freely to the whole of campus. The future for Air3 1350 is bright, rebranded to promote the stations frequency, it has been relaunched in the spring of 2001 with a new look, a new website, new shows and a new identity.
