Radio station KCSC

KCSC premiered in 1951 as part of the speech and drama department in what is now ayres hall on the CSU, Chico campus. The station produced old-time radio dramas for 15 hours a week on the campus public address system.

In the sixties and seventies KCSC played blues, jazz and progressive rock settling into a workable learning experience for hundreds of coming and going members.

The eighties saw KCSC sponsoring the Battle of the Bands and the Invasion of live television programs. KCSC was named "Best College Radio Station" in a 1987 Spin survey of college radio.

Now, KCSC has made the move to the internet. It broadcasts 14 hours a day in a "college alternative" format. The station charts to CMJ, and plans to keep the music going no matter what.
